TOPIC: The Demo Scene
#175
The Demo Scene 1 Year, 2 Months ago Karma: 1
Hi everyone,
I wanted to let everyone here know about the Demoscene:
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Demoscene

I've been a follower of the scene for a long time and have attended 1 Demoparty.

Please go to the following websites to get more info about the scene:
www.scene.org and www.pouet.net (you can download demos from here).

I'm really interested to build a scene and maybe even our own parties here in India and I'm thinking maybe the students of Kode Academy would be interested too, that's why this post .

Let me know your thoughts, guys .

Hello Rohit!

I am very happy to see enthusiasts like you. Why dont you start your own demo scene group in the community?

I am sure you will find more like minded people.

Regards,
Manuj.

OK, for everybody reading this, who's a brilliant programmer (or, well, just alright, like me! ), and wants to spend ALL their free time making productions that'll blow people away, reply to this thread on this forum and let's see what we can work out. It would help if you're in Kolkata and can meet me in person, or if that's not going to happen then we'll work over the Internet and phone.
You must preferably *not* be a Windows DirectX programmer, but want to develop the whole 3D engine yourself - I myself use Linux a lot and that's what we'll be develping demos for, if it comes to that. (By the way there's a Linux demo site at www.linuxdemos.org , so even if we do, we're no pioneers). It would help if you know Assembly or could pick it up quickly, so we can do 4K's and 64k's.
As time goes by, and we've got some 3D functionality for our program under our belt, we'll need Graphicians to do some 3D modelling or maybe some 2D artwork, but that's later, and we'll advertise maybe right here on this forum when we do.....

Ok, so ....let me know

Rohit.

(P.S. Manuj are YOU interested to form one with me? )

Hello Rohit,

I have found these two books to be of great value:

www.amazon.com/Linux-Graphics-Programmin...246687178&sr=8-1

www.amazon.com/Advanced-Linux-Graphics-P...246687178&sr=8-2

Recently I am caught up with a lot of company related stuff, but if I do get an opening in my time schedule, I will definitely let you know.
